PaulG.Wassenichwasabelovedandmuch-honoredprofessorofreligionatTexasChristianUniversityafterservingasBibleChairoftheUniversityofTexasatAustin.PaulWassenichwasamanofprinciples.Hewasaconscientiousobjector,earningthewrathoftheAmericanLegionnairesinFortWorthforhiscommentsaboutwar.HewasanindependentthinkerandmatchedwitswiththedeanoftheDisciplesHouseattheUniversityofChicagoDivinitySchool.HesupportedlaborinDetroiteventhoughprominentbusinessownersweremembersofhischurch.InAustinandFortWorth,hewasastrongsupporterofcivilrightsforBlacks.Paul’swifelovinglycollectedhissermons,lecturenotes,andseminaroutlinestoaddtohismemoirs.Arrangedsomewhatchronologically,thesedocumentsshowthegrowthinhisthinking.AfterheretiredhegrewpeachesattheWassenichfarmnearMineralWells,Texas,andgaveseminarsforlaypeopleoncontemporarytheologiansatchurchesacrossthestate.
